Do you pack lunches for your family? That task can be a bit daunting, so today I thought I would share with you my 5 steps to packing a yummy lunch quickly and efficiently!

First thing you need to do is to plan ahead to have a variety of healthy lunch items available to choose from. Are you looking for inspiration? Check out my Pinterest page where I share a ton of meal ideas, snack ideas, and other fun stuff!

  1. Start with the main course. I like to have a plan for what I will be eating for lunch each day unless you are a fan of a turkey sandwich each and every day! Also consider leftovers as lunch the following day. I am a big fan of cook once, eat twice. Doubling the dinner main course, or doubling the protein you are cooking is a great way to cut down on prep time.

  2. Add a vegetable. Are you are fan of crunchy snacks? Think carrots and hummus, sliced peppers, celery, cherry tomatoes, and sliced cucumbers. Here is a HUGE time saving tip! When you are unpacking your groceries, immediately wash the veggies and let them dry. After you are done unpacking your food, cleaning out your fridge, etc, take 15 minutes and cut up all of the veggies and portion them out into bags and store in your refrigerator so that they are all ready. All you have to do is grab and go!

  3. Add a healthy carb side. One of my favorite lunch snacks are veggie “chips”. Have you tried to make your own chips? On my Pinterest page I have a bunch of chip recipes that are easy and delicious! Be sure to give them a try!

  4. Add a sweet treat! Yes, you read that right! Sweet treats are the best part of a packed lunch, right?! One of my favorite sweet treats is a bit dark chocolate and depending on the day, I have been known to dip it into some peanut butter. Baked apple chips, dried fruit, dates stuffed with nut butter all make great sweet treats to round out your meal.

  5. Water … put down the diet soda! Lunch is a great time to add a sparkling water like La Croix. Have several different flavors on hand so that you can choose whatever is appealing to you for that day.

I hope that these ideas help your lunch packing efforts!

Be safe & be well!

XO,

Stephanie
